Antenna Splitter: Buy in Nairobi, from Pro-Logic Technologies

Once you have a high-quality antenna signal coming into a building, it makes perfect sense to distribute it to multiple televisions rather than installing separate antennas for each room. An antenna splitter divides the incoming coaxial signal from one antenna into two, four, or more outputs, each feeding a different TV or decoder. Pro-Logic Technologies in Nairobi stocks quality RF splitters and distribution components to help you build a professional multi-room TV installation.

How an Antenna Splitter Works

An antenna splitter is a passive device — it contains no active electronics, requiring no power source. Inside, it uses a network of transformers or resistive elements to divide the incoming signal power evenly between its output ports. A 2-way splitter divides power in half (a 3dB loss per output). A 4-way splitter introduces approximately 7dB of loss per output. An 8-way splitter loses around 11dB per output.

This signal loss is an inherent consequence of passive splitting and is the primary limitation to how many TVs can be fed from a single antenna without additional amplification.

When to Use a Splitter with an Amplifier

For small installations — two TVs in a well-covered signal area — a simple 2-way passive splitter is often sufficient. The signal loss is modest and the existing signal strength usually absorbs it without visible degradation.

For larger installations — four or more TVs, long cable runs between rooms, or marginal signal areas — combining a signal amplifier with the splitter is essential. A distribution amplifier (which includes both amplification and splitting in one unit) is often the cleanest solution.

F-Type vs. IEC Connectors

In Kenya, two main coaxial connector types are encountered. The IEC (PAL) connector is a round push-fit connector found on older TVs and some European-standard equipment. The F-type connector is a threaded connector used in professional and satellite installations. Ensure your splitter uses the same connector type as your cable and equipment — or use adapters where necessary.

At Pro-Logic Technologies, we stock splitters with IEC, F-type, and combination ports, along with the associated connectors and adapters.
